From tropical disturbances to cyclones
Work in progressI study how regional jets and the surrounding environment relate to the formation of tropical cyclone seeds and their chances of developing into storms.

I study how cyclones and large-scale circulation emerge and interact in rotating atmospheres. My research spans Jupiter’s polar cyclones and deep flows, and the disturbances that can develop into tropical cyclones on Earth. I combine observations, theory, and fluid-dynamical models to understand the processes behind these patterns.

At UC Berkeley, I work with William R. Boos on how regional jets and the surrounding environment influence the formation of tropical cyclone seeds and their development into storms. I completed my PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science with Yohai Kaspi, studying the dynamics of Jupiter’s polar cyclones.
